PUBLICLY OWNED PARK ON THE TABLE....WHERE'S THE TRANSPARENCY?

All of a sudden I'm reading newspaper stories and seeing TV packages using the wording "publicly owned park on the table" in regards to a new home for the Pawtucket Red Sox. Last week we found out new Senate President Dominic Ruggerio sat down with Pawsox Chairman Larry Lucchino in what was described as a 'get to know one another" meeting during which Ruggerio showed support for new digs. Why wouldn't he? He's long been an Administrator for New England laborers. The Pro Jo ran a story headlined with PUBLICLY OWNED PARK IS ON THE TABLE. It is? What table? I wasn't invited to the table and I'm a mamber of the public...the same public that pays taxes that could go towards the building of this new stadium. This week Lucchino was in Pawtucket joining 120 business and civic leaders for a community meeting about the city's future. he said all the right things about wanting to stay in the city and how either of two sights being discussed would work...but he declined to say how much taxpayers money would be needed to replace the city owned McCoy Stadium. It's time these conversations gain more transparency if we're talking about taxpayers wallets...the same taxpayers who are still stinging from 38 Studios. Remember, those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
