I'm sure by now you've seen the viral video of that passenger being dragged off a United Flight leaving Chicago's O'Hare airport after he refused to be bumped from his flight. The fact of the matter is travelers have very few rights when it comes to being bumped and it's right there in the fine print of every ticket you purchase...but who actually reads it. United had EVERY legal right to bump the guy from the flight. It was the WAY it all came down in this EVERYONE HAS ACCESS TO SMART PHONE VIDEO world we live in. The video shows the man kicking and screaming and eventually bleeding from the mouth as security forcibly escort him off the plane. If that wasn't bad enough, United's CEO Oscar Munoz followed up by saying the passenger was 'disruptive and belligerent" and backed his employees for following "established procedures." Munoz may be right but nobody watching that video is living in HIS world. Munoz, who I'm sure will soon have the title FORMER UNITED AIRLINES CEO, must have missed CRISIS MANAGEMENT 101. No matter what legal ground he's standing on, perception is reality and he should have just fallen on the sword.
