(North Providence, RI) -- North Providence schools now have another protective layer of security. A new high-tech system has been installed that can detect where an active shooter is in the building to help police track that person down. Sensors that can determine when a shot has been fired have been placed throughout the buildings and are connected to the schools' video systems and police dispatch center. Officers put the system to the test Monday and yesterday as they took part in simulated drills at North Providence High School.
