Bill O'Reilly is saying goodbye to Fox News while claiming the reasons for his ouster are "completely unfounded." O'Reilly issued his statement after Fox News' parent company 21st Century Fox announced they’re cutting ties with the host over the recent fallout from sexual harassment allegations.
O'Reilly said he was extremely proud to have launched and led "The O'Reilly Factor," a program he called one of the most successful news programs in history. He said he was disheartened to part ways "due to completely unfounded claims," but that people in the public eye have to live with that reality. He thanked his viewers and wished Fox News Channel "only the best."
So why would O'Reilly, a guy known as a fighter, accept his termination if he insists the sexual harassment allegations are unfounded? My guess is it's a piece of paper with many commas and zeros on it courtesy of 21st CENTURY FOX. Many O'Reilly fans took to social media to express their unhappiness at losing their hero and it sure didn't help the whole controversy was set in motion by the NY TIMES which is despised in O'Reilly's conservative circles. O'Reilly generates big ratings and big bucks so you know another media outlet will pounce on him in the not too distant future. We'll see if out of sight out of mind works in his favor.
