Two Buoys Near Block Island Riddled With Bullet Holes

(New Shoreham, RI)  --  The Coast Guard is looking into who is shooting at navigational buoys near Block Island.  Two buoys were found within the last week riddled with bullet holes. On Monday it was discovered that a 12,000 pound buoy had sunk off Clay Head and had 20 bullet holes in it.  The buoy marks a large rock three feet below the surface and ferries and other water craft frequently travel near it.  The Coast Guard says anyone convicted of tampering with buoys could face up to 20 years in prison and some hefty fines.
