RAIMONDO RACKS UP THE DOUGH

Want to toss your hat into the ring for the Governor's race? Bring lots of money...I'm talking LOTS of dough. A Board of Elections filing says Governor Gina Raimondo has $2.2 million bucks stockpiled for her 2018 re-election bid and there's still  A YEAR AND A HALF TO go  before voters head to the polls. Agree or disagree with her politics, one thing you've got to admit...Gina Raimondo knows how to fundraise. She's raised $3 million since becoming governor and millions more before that as General Treasurer. By comparison, the last two term governor , Republican Don Carcieri, had $275,000 in his coffers at the same point during his third year in office. One can only imagine how much money will be stuffed into that campaign chest when the games begin. Cranston Mayor Allan Fung, widely expected to the the GOP candidate once again, has $79,000 on hand. Other rumored to be testing the waters fro a run include Republican Joe Trillo and businessman Gio Feroce and former Governor Linc Chafee's been sounding like he's considering another run. Chafee has great personal  wealth but still, right now, anyone deciding a run against Raimondo money-wise, is going to a gun fight with a knife.
