KATHY GRIFFIN AN "ARTISIT"??? I THINK NOT

Political humor is a right of free speech. Lobbing anti establishment laughs goes all the way  back to the Marx Brothers and WC Fields. Biting political humor was a staple for Lenny Bruce, the Smothers Brothers, Dick Gregory and George Carlin and remains so today for Bill Mahr, Lewis Black and Stephen Colbert. Saturday Night live has taken on EVERY presidential administration since 1975, from Chevy Chase's stumbling Gerald Ford, a milk toast Jimmy Carter, a womanizing Bill Clinton to Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump. Republican or Democrat, it didn't matter. It was all fair game. Like or dislike these comedians and sketches and whether or not you found their material funny,  you have to at least give credit for the thought process of creative writing. What Kathy Griffin did, posting her holding the severed head of President Donald Trump, is ANYTHING but creative. Griffin, whom I've never found remotely funny, may have tanked her career. CNN has already dropped her as New Year's Eve after a decade of co-hosting New Year's Eve coverage with Anderson Cooper. There should ALWAYS be a place for political humor but there should NEVER be a place suggesting such a barbaric act as the beheading of a President. In many other countries, Griffin would already be in prison.
