A much talked about fight between boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. and mixed martial arts UFC superstar Conner McGregor has become reality and somewhere PT Barnum is smiling. Mayweather will exit a 23 month retirement at age 40 to face McGregor in a boxing match August 26th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight will be a boxing match with a junior middleweight weight limit of 154 pounds and the fighters will use 10 ounce gloves. The broadcast will be Showtime PPV. McGregor has never been in a boxing match in his life but I'm sure that matters little to a guy who was on welfare as recently as 2013. What does matter is the payday. Remember, the Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao PPV several years ago generated $600 million with Mayweather guaranteed 40% of that dough. That's more than All Star NBA player Tim Duncan made in his entire 18 year career with the San Antonio Spurs. Mayweather's no stranger to three ring circle staged sports events. He pulled down a cool $20 million when he faced the WWE's BIG SHOW in a WRESTLEMANIA 24 match-up. This carnival act will draw boxing fans, UFC fans and people who are simply curious enough to waste $100 bucks for a PPV that's got disappointment written all over it. So buyer beware. PT Barnum was right, there's a sucker born every minute.
