General Assembly Inaction On A Budget Could Leave Schools Reeling

(Providence, RI)  --  More than forty-five million dollars in education funding is in limbo because of the General Assembly's inaction to approve a new budget.  State law requires departments to operate on the same funding level as the previous year if there's no new budget.  In Providence that's a more than twelve million dollar impact on schools.  Several other cities would also be impacted well into the millions of dollars if legislators can't come together on a tax and spending plan.
