(Providence, RI) -- The Federal Railroad Administration is dropping a proposed plan to add new tracks between Old Saybrook, Connecticut, and Richmond, Rhode Island. The proposal had been part of the agency's 25-year preferred plan to overhaul the Northeast Railroad Corridor. The plan had been a point of controversy among residents along the proposed route.
