(Westerly, RI) -- Westerly Police are investigating possible financial irregularities involving the Westerly Public Schools. Superintendent Mark Garceau tells "The Westerly Sun" the investigation has been underway for about three weeks. He says the first day on the job he was informed about the possibility of irregularities tied to the processing of funds. Garceau says it's not clear if the funds are missing or not clearly accounted for. Additional financial controls have been implemented since the investigation started.
