(Providence, RI) -- Rhode Island is the most Catholic state in the U.S. A survey conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute shows that the second largest group is individuals with no religious affiliation. The survey shows that 41-percent of the state's residents identify as Catholic. Nearly 370 Rhode islanders were polled for the survey.
