(Providence, RI) -- Exits along Rhode Island highways will be getting new numbers. RIDOT is launching a three-year project to renumber all of its highway exits to correspond with the mile marker where it's located and comply with a federal rule. The project will start next month on Interstate-295 and finish by the end of the year. The transition calls for keeping the old exit numbers with the new ones for at least a year to help motorists adjust.
