(Providence, RI) -- A controversial hotel project on a sliver of land in downtown Providence is moving forward. The 195 Commission last night approved the boutique hotel for the site of the former helicopter landing pad on the east side of the Providence River. The first approval now requires developer Gerald Fandetti to undergo a design review and begin negotiations for the site. The design Fandetti illustrated was deemed too contemporary for the historical area.
