(Newport, RI) -- A Newport city councilman is facing a charge of making an obscene phone call to a 13-year old boy he claims was sending sexual messages to his daughter. Councilman John Florez says he plans to fight the charge. Florez claims the boy sent the message to his daughter after they met around Halloween and obtained a court order preventing the boy from contacting his daughter. Florez is expected in court today.
