(Cranston, RI) -- Authorities are investigating the cause of a chemical fire in Cranston that sent 14 firefighters to the hospital. The fire was reported around 5 p.m. yesterday in a portion of a building leased by ProSys Finishing Technologies in the 14-hundred block of Elmwood Avenue. Firefighters encountered a situation where sprinkler systems activated chemicals and caused them to mix with others in a room. Some of the firefighters were released from the hospital after treatment. A private company will be on site today to clean up the chemicals.
