(Easton, RI) -- The Easton Fire Department's deputy chief is facing an assault charge and has been placed on administrative leave. Police say Timothy Griffin has been in jail since Saturday after the incident Friday night in Attleboro, Massachusetts, when he took possession of his ex-girlfriend's gun. Police say he also struck her in the head and put her in a headlock. Griffin was promoted to deputy chief two months ago.
