Group Opposes Sale Of Newport Historic Armory

(Newport, RI)  --  A petition is being circulated to stop the sale of the historic Armory building on Thames Street in Newport.  The city is planning to sell the building to the National Sailing Hall of Fame for nearly two-million-dollars.  The Friends of the Waterfront says in its petition that the sale needs to be discussed and debated.  The group claims the sale is in conflict with the Comprehensive Plan
