(Providence, RI) -- Providence's speed cameras are overwhelming the city's municipal court. The court had nearly 27-hundred speed-camera violations on yesterday's docket on a day it would normally have 300. Chief Judge Frank Caprio dismissed numerous cases due to people receiving multiple notices for the same offense, dark pictures where the vehicle was unidentifiable and some notices with contradictory information. Caprio noted that the purpose of the violations should be public safety and not to increase revenue.
