(Providence, RI) -- Don't feed the coyotes, goes the latest warning from the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management. Officials are advising residents that this is the time of year when the animals may often be seen in populated areas and neighborhoods looking for food. DEM says coyotes that find easily obtained food resources may become bold and habituated to human activity, which could put small pets at risk. Coyote attacks on people are very rare.
