(Providence, RI) -- Rhode Island lawmakers are confirming that a settlement has been reached with nursing homes that filed a lawsuit against the state. House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello and Senate President Dominick Ruggerio issued a joint statement on Tuesday saying they were pleased the state and the nursing homes were able to reach an amicable resolution that they say is fair and beneficial to the state and its taxpayers. In exchange for dropping a legal decision that gave the nearly 60 nursing homes 24-million-dollars from the state, the settlement calls for a two-and-a-half-percent Medicaid reimbursement rate increase in the next several months.
