(Providence, RI) -- A controversial law that would allow for a sentence of up to life in prison for dealers who sell drugs that lead to fatal overdoses is one step closer to Governor Gina Raimondo's desk.House lawmakers passed Kristen's Law, named for a woman who died from a fentanyl overdose, 55-to-14 on Thursday. The legislation will need to go back to the Senate because an amendment was added to the House-approved version. Raimondo says she plans on signing the legislation, despite urging by the Rhode Island Medical Society in a letter on Wednesday to veto the measure.
