(Cranston, RI) -- The watchdog group that filed a complaint over use of rent-free campaign space by Republican candidate for governor Allan Fung is expanding the grievance. WPRI-TV reports Common Cause Rhode Island on Thursday asked the Rhode Island Board of Elections for a wider investigation into Cranston-based Carpionato Group's contribution of rent-free offices to politicians in the city in both parties. Fellow Republican governor candidate Patricia Morgan and incumbent Gina Raimondo had also filed complaints with the state election board against Fung earlier this week after WPRI aired a report that indicated the Cranston mayor was able to use a Carpionato office either rent-free or at below-market rate during his mayoral campaign earlier this decade.
