(Washington, DC) -- Rhode Island's U.S. senators are reacting to President Trump's pick of Brett Kavanaugh for Supreme Court justice. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse says special interests approved the nominee and that Kavanaugh will have to convince him that he can be an independent judge. Fellow Democrat Jack Reed said he opposed Kavanaugh's nomination to a lower court seat because of his overtly partisan background, and he does not believe he's a good fit for the Supreme Court. The Senate must confirm Trump's pick.
