Brown Drops Standardized Test Essay Requirement

(Providence, RI)  --  Brown University is dropping the SAT essay and ACT writing test requirement for applicants.  University officials say not all schools that offer free school-day SATs in the U.S. include the essay portion, so the requirement may be discouraging talented students from applying at Brown.  A report from "The Washington Post" indicated Brown was the last Ivy League school to still have the requirement in place.
