Some endorsements matter and some don't. For instance, Linc Chafee endorsing Democratic gubernatorial candidate Matt Brown amounts to...as motivational speaker Matt Foley would call "jack squat." Endorsements from unions, however, bring quite a cache and incumbent Gina Raimondo's wracking them up early. This week The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, The International Association of Sheet Metal Workers and an IBEW Local chapter endorsement Raimondo. Those endorsements can translate into all kinds of help for a candidate including phone banks, mailers, paid ads and the all important boots on the ground and all of those things are oh so important especially in a primary when turn out is historically low.
