(Providence, RI) -- Rhode Island's benefits eligibility system was scheduled for a major software upgrade this past weekend. Problems have plagued the Unified Health Infrastructure Project, or UHIP, since it was launched in 2016. The upgrade was delayed multiple times leading up to this weekend. State officials expected it to help UHIP meet federal standards of processing benefit applications.
