Officials: 195 Traffic Problem Not Going Away

(Providence, RI)  --  The Rhode Island Department of Transportation says traffic on Interstate 195 is likely to get worse before it gets better as repairs on the Washington Bridge continue.  RIDOT Director Peter Alviti said that the longest travel time crews measured yesterday from East Providence to Providence was 50 minutes via Route 44.  Alviti said RIDOT is working on new ways to alleviate the backups, but that there's no getting around the fact that there will be traffic.  He said crews will start working around the clock on the bridge next week.
