(Newport, RI) -- Today is the final day for the Newport Grand casino. Twin River Management Group, the casino's operator, will close the building at 11 p.m. and transfer the gambling license to the new Tiverton Casino Hotel, which is scheduled to open on Saturday. The Newport Grand property has been a casino since 1992. It was purchased by the Carpionato Group real estate development company, which is working on plans to turn it into a mixed-used commercial space.
