URI Research Crew On Ship That Became Grounded

(South Kingstown, RI)  --  No injuries are being reported after a research vessel carrying a team of scientists and students from the University of Rhode Island ran aground in the Arctic Circle.  URI's Graduate School of Oceanography led a team to the Arctic Ocean's Northwest Passage last Thursday to conduct ocean research aboard the vessel Akademik Ioffe, which became grounded on Friday in the western Gulf of Boothia in Nunavut, Canada.  The vessel had refloated by Saturday morning, and the crews transferred to a sister ship, according to a statement from URI.
