(Providence, RI) -- The Rhode Island Department of Transportation says revenue from a new truck-tolling system is continuing to exceed expectations. From July 11th to August 10th, the second month of tolling, RIDOT says just over 200-thousand trucks passed through the South County gantries on I-95, almost 24-thousand more than projected, resulting in about 665-thousand dollars in assessed charges. In addition to suing over the tolls, the trucking industry has suggested that truckers would drive around Rhode Island to avoid the payments.
