(Washington, DC) -- Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse is among the Democratic senators calling for a delay in the process of confirming Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh after sexual assault allegations surfaced. Christine Blasey Ford is accusing Kavanaugh of assaulting her when the two were in high school. Whitehouse, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said in a statement that he admires the courage Ford has shown in coming forward. He added that Kavanaugh's blanket denial of the allegations cannot be reconciled with Ford's specific recollections.
