Former Campaign Worker Possible Finance Violation

(Providence, RI)  --  The Rhode Island Board of Elections is referring a case involving a former campaign aide of House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello to the state attorney general.  The board says Jeff Britt may have violated campaign finance law, with the case centering around a mailer sent out by failed GOP state representative candidate Shawna Lawton which endorsed Mattiello in his home district in Cranston.  A complaint filed by the state Republican party alleges the mailer was improperly funded and coordinated through Britt.  The board found no evidence that Mattiello was involved in the coordination of the mailer.
