(Smithfield, RI) -- Ground was broken on a new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Smithfield yesterday. Governor Gina Raimondo joined state and local officials and the CEO of Rubius Therapeutics to celebrate the work getting underway. Rubius plans on spending 155-million dollars to renovate an existing building. The company focuses on the development of lab-created red blood cells to fight cancer and other diseases.
