Warwick Honors Worker Who Intervened In Stabbing

(Warwick, RI)  --  The city of Warwick is honoring a man for stopping an attacker who had already stabbed a Rite Aid clerk twenty times from doing any more damage.  Connor Devine was presented with a Carnegie Medal for heroism by Mayor Joseph Solomon at Warwick City Hall on Wednesday.  Devine, a fellow Rite Aid employee, reportedly fended off Jacob Gallant of Westport, Massachusetts with a shopping cart until a customer in the store was able to pin the attacker down after he stabbed store clerk Alyssa Garcia in March of 2017.  Solomon said Devine's involvement saved Garcia's life.
