(Middletown, RI) -- The Yarmouth Police Department is reporting the arrest of James Stern, the wedding officiant from Portsmouth who allegedly performed unlicensed ceremonies in Massachusetts. Stern is being held at the Adult Correctional Institute in Rhode Island after the Yarmouth PD said he was arrested by Middletown police, and Stern has a court appearance scheduled for next Wednesday. In addition to facing a charge of impersonating a justice of the peace, Stern is also accused of misusing credit cards of people who attended weddings he officiated.
