We told you that the handwriting was on the wall and today it’s a reality. Although NBC has yet to announce anything official, two days after the blackface debacle, Megyn Kelly is reportedly out at NBC. Now she and the network are said to be negotiating her exit.
The former Fox News personality reportedly joined the peacock last year with a three-year, multi-million dollar contract. She’s still got about a year and ten months left. While the figures haven’t been confirmed, some outlets are saying she could walk away with somewhere near $50 million dollars.
At this point, Megyn’s lawyer, Bryan Freeman, is allegedly talking to NBC today to demand they pay out her contract. Freeman had initially wanted a face-to-face meeting with the brass and Ronan Farrow, but they said no. For the record, Ronan is about to release a book highly critical of NBC and the way it handled his Harvey Weinstein reporting.
ONE MORE THING! While it looks like the blackface incident caused Megyn’s exit, sources say that it was a long time coming. Not only were the higher ups not happy with her show’s ratings, they didn’t like the way she went after Matt Lauer when he was fired for sexual harassment. And there were rumors that she wasn’t anyone’s favorite person.
You've got to wonder who does the vetting at the Peacock network. By the way, when you add what Lauer walked away with as a settlement to what Kelly could be pocketing, it totals more than the entire pay role on MLB's Tampa Bay Rays.
