(Newport, RI) -- The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority is considering adding an observation deck, as well as bike and pedestrian paths, to the Newport Pell Bridge. The authority made that revelation on Wednesday and said it's part of the celebration of the bridge's 50th anniversary. The idea is to have an elevator run up to the deck on top of one of the towers of the bridge. Officials say the bike and pedestrian paths are also being considered for the Mount Hope and Jamestown Verrazzano bridges.
