(Cranston, RI) -- A plan to fix up aging schools in Cranston is being shared. Under the proposal, announced at a joint meeting on Wednesday between the school committee and city council, the city would close two elementary schools, build one new school and renovate four. The plan would cost 117-million dollars, but Cranston officials expect to have most of the cost covered through the recently- approved state bond package. The plan would need to be approved by voters in the 2020 election.
