Vigil At Gardner's House Met With Counter-Protests

(Providence, RI)  --  A vigil of support for convicted child rapist Richard Gardner at his Providence home was quickly sniffed out by counter-protesters on Saturday.  Gardner was recently released from prison and took up residency in the city's Washington Park neighborhood.  He was arrested several weeks ago for a probation violation after putting the Massachusetts address of his mother on a marriage license, but a judge determined he did not violate his probation and he was out of jail last Monday.  WJAR-TV reports the vigil this weekend was organized by Gardner's wife, Patricia, and Richard Gardner himself also participated, holding a sign that said, "Are you the same person you were 30 years ago?"
