Longhorned Tick Found In New England

(Providence, RI)  --  The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management says the longhorned tick, a non-native species, is being discovered in New England for the first time.  The DEM says the tick was detected in Connecticut this fall.  Officials say the tick poses a risk to New England livestock and can also affect wildlife, hunters and their dogs, and spreads a variety of diseases.
