THE OSCAR SCRAMBLE

Just two days after being named the host of this year's Academy Awards show, comedian Kevin Hart stepped down following an outcry over past homophobic tweets he sent out years ago. This isn't the first time an Oscars host was bagged by anti-gay remarks. Ahead of the 2012 Academy Awards show. Producer Brett Ratner, who had been paired with Eddie Murphy, resigned after a gay slur at a screening. Murphy then decided the show was too toxic and he too took a hike. Remember when hosting the Oscars was a bit of an honor? A Listers like Bob Hope (18 times), Johnny Carson (5 times) and Billy Crystal (8 times) were featured. Now, the gig's turned into Hollywood kryptonite as hosts face brutal media scrutiny for their efforts and lower and lower ratings. The reason Hope, Carson and Crystal were successful is because they confined  MOST of their comedic targets to Hollywood and NOT politics. Word is Hart was far from the Academy's first choice with most names above his turning down the job. Now the Academy's in a full out scramble to find a host who will survive vetting before the FEBRUARY 24TH SHOW.
