(Providence, RI) -- A former commissioner of the NCAA's Big East Conference has been fired from his new position as assistant director of the state government's internship program. A Rhode Island House of Representatives spokesperson has confirmed the firing of John Marinatto, who was hired in 2017. No additional details are being provided by legislators who say they won't comment on a personnel matter. Marinatto resigned as the Big East commissioner in 2012 and had previously worked for the athletics department at Providence College.
