(Providence, RI) -- Texting 911 could soon be a reality in Rhode Island. State Representative Joe McNamara has introduced a bill that will enable people in an emergency to contact authorities via the new communication method. The texting system would be compatible with the traditional 911 phone system. Massachusetts just recently announced 911 texting was available in the Bay State.
