Gas Service Almost Completely Restored;Lawsuits Announced

(Newport, RI)  --  An offer of help is being extended to Aquidneck Island businesses that were hurt by last week's National Grid gas outage, and at the same time, there's a class action lawsuit being filed.  Overnight Tuesday, National Grid said gas service has been restored to over 98 percent of impacted customers in Newport.  Governor Gina Raimondo announced yesterday that an emergency loan fund of nearly one-and-a-half-million dollars is being provided for affected businesses thanks to several organizations.  Meanwhile, two lawsuits were filed in Newport Superior Court on behalf of eight residents and three businesses against National Grid and gas supplier Enbridge, seeking financial compensation.
