State Recognizes Animal Shelter For Gas Outage Work

(Middletown, RI)--The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is recognizing the state's animal shelter network, the Potter League for Animals, for its work during the recent Aquidneck Island gas outage.During last month's service disruption to thousands of National Grid customers in Newport and Middletown, residents packing local warming shelters had to separate from their pets because the shelters only permitted service animals. The DEM says the Potter League and State Veterinarian Scott Marshall worked to keep over one-hundred pets safe.
