Testimony Directed At Legislator Perceived As Threat

(Providence, RI)--One person's testimony this week on abortion legislation at the Rhode Island State House is being investigated by state police.Melanie Dupont, a former state Senate candidate, was specifically talking about the Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Act, a bill co-sponsored by State Representative Gregory Constantino, on Tuesday. She said any time Constantino tries to abridge her rights as a woman and endanger her life, she should return the favor and try to abridge his rights as a man and endanger his rights, and then offered an amendment to his bill that would ban vasectomies.Constantino says he contacted police after the testimony, but Dupont insists what she said was satire.
