Authorities Say DNA Database Was Used To Make Murder Arrest

(Warwick, RI)--More information was shared on Wednesday about what led to the arrest of Michael Soares, the Pawtucket man accused of murdering a jogger in Warwick.Police officials said that DNA evidence collected at the murder scene involving victim John Fay in 2013 was sent to a genealogical research company last year, California-based IdentiFinders International, and it was then determined that Soares was the only person in his lineage who matched the DNA profile.Police say they still do not have a motive for the crime.Soares was charged in Kent County court yesterday and is being held without bail.
