Offshore Wind Contract Announced

(Providence, RI) -- A contract for the four-hundred-megawatt offshore wind farm that's set to provide electricity for Rhode Islanders is being filed with the state Public Utilities Commission. The twenty-year deal for the Revolution wind farm is between National Grid and Danish company Orsted, which acquired Providence-based Deepwater Wind, which was originally chosen to build the wind farm. Governor Gina Raimondo says the source will offer electricity at prices far lower than anticipated. National Grid says the contract price is nine-point-eight cents per kilowatt hour.
