(Providence, RI)--A former Republican candidate for a Rhode Island Congressional seat is set to agree to a plea deal today on federal charges of wire fraud and election law violation.H. Russel Taub is accused of amassing over one-and-a-half-million dollars through his political action committee but not forwarding most of it to GOP candidates.Taub, of Cranston, failed to pick up the seat occupied by incumbent David Cicilline in 2016.He faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.
